Dear Christian,

I challenge you to watch this short, but very provocative video clip regarding the morality of your God's act of killing so many little children in Noah's Flood. If after watching this video clip you can still assert that your God and your belief system is good and moral, I will strongly and sincerely recommend that you see a mental health professional.

I am a Creationist, believing in Genesis 1-11 exactly as presented in the Holy Scriptures, rather than as some kind of parable or allegory or other story. When I view the evil in the USA and the world today, I wonder how much more evil the world was then, to prompt God to kill all those people then alive all over the earth, except for those eight on the ark!

I never equated the rainbow with a warrior’s bow. Truly, G-d is merciful.
Eve chose to eat of the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil. We (humans) are continuing to choose our actions for good or for evil. And for some- their cup of iniquity is still not full- they still have a chance to repent and turn from evil or wayward ways.
I pray more will come to know the Lord and turn from evil.
For all must appear before the judgement seat of G-d to give an account of words and deeds.
Shalom

Dear Lois,
I fully agree with your presentation of the theological significance of the world wide flood. Those (like myself) who emphasize the historicity of the flood—the size of the ark, the geological impact, etc.—come to the same conclusion that you do. Perhaps we haven’t made the connection between the Rainbow and the warrior’s bow, but we do emphasize the historicity of the flood in order to press home the abundance of God’s mercy to Noah, the faithfulness of His promise of mercy for our times and the certainty of the coming judgment in Peter’s letter. Be assured that we are your allies to present biblical history for the sake of communicating the theological message intended by God. If these things did not actually take place as presented in Genesis then Peter’s gospel warning has little or no significance. Blessings! Ken Anema

i agree wholeheartedly with your words. i have always shook my head over the nursery walllpaper and sweet story book version of this horrific event. it’s no wonder few even in the church believe it really happened and thus lose the impact on their lives. nor do we really get the message Peter brings by tying the flood with the end of time judgement. when will God’s people learn to take him at his word and believe it!!
thanks Lois for another great article.

Lois, the truths here are so timely, and so pivotal to our understanding the nature of a purely good God who can allow us to continue to fall short. In the face of social issues that cause my heart to break and my anger to burn, I have cried out, “Enough, Lord—act now!” And our abundantly merciful Savior whispered to me, “My love is not circumstantial.” After time pondering this idea, I can see its meaning. The Lord has never permitted human beings to change Him, and so His perfect timing for bringing the Kingdom to fullness will not be swayed even by our most outrageous greed and wickedness. Praise God for that. He desires that none should parish, and I believe His unfathomable patience paces as His love makes room for more of His beloved children to enter the Kingdom.
