We should not say that we can do anything by ourselves because we, human beings do not have super power to resist a hurricane or other disasters. In tough times we must rely on others who we trust. Living in an atmosphere where you do not feel lonely and abandoned yourself is priceless. When you are helped out by others you will intend to support them and be grateful for them and for God who placed them close to you.

To refer to him as “our rabbi” just seems demeaning to me, like when the Muslims call Him a (mere) prophet.
