Friends in Hong Kong and everyone else,
I’m excited to say that I’m going to be traveling your way in June and speaking for HaDavar Yeshiva on Friday, June 12th and Saturday, June 13th!
Friday 13 June, 7-9 PM:
The Torah Cycle of Rabbi Jesus
I will be discussing how the ancient triennial Torah reading tradition sheds light on Jesus, Paul and the New Testament.
Saturday 14 June, 4-6 PM:
Talk (1) – How Understanding Jesus’ Jewishness Saved My Faith
My college New Testament professors didn’t think Jesus believed he was the Messiah. Later I realized that because they didn’t grasp his Jewish context, they didn’t realize that was making bold claims from his Scriptures in a very Jewish way.
Talk (2) – Psalm 22: A Hebraic Look at Jesus’ Final Words on the Cross
Jesus’ death on the cross is a puzzler for Christians. How can reading Psalm 22 help us understand the theological implications of his outcry to God?
