The topic of my talk will be:
Jesus’ Bold Jewish Messianic Claims
People often assume that the historical, Jewish Jesus was just a humble rabbi with no pretensions of being the Christ that the Gentile church worshiped. Scholars, however, are finding that Jesus often made startling claims in a very Jewish way. He often used metaphors and applied Scriptures to himself that his listeners recognized as strongly messianic. Some of his “hints” are so cloaked in Jewish cultural expression that Gentiles read right past them.
.
The Kesher Forum is an inter-denominational learning community for those who are interested in Jewish culture and building bridges with the Chicagoland Jewish community.
While our gatherings are almost always presented from a Christian perspective, we absolutely welcome those from any background to come and engage in healthy and respectful dialogue.
In a nutshell…we are followers of Jesus interested in engaging with the Jewish roots of our faith and the Jewish community itself…to learn, to grow, and to build bridges of mutual interest and understanding. More at this link.
