Meet my new mesharetet, Madalyn Buursma.
Moses had Joshua as his “mesharet.” Elijah had Elisha as his “mesharet” (meh-SHAR-et; fem.: meh-sha-REHT-et).” The word is translated as “assistant,” but the relationship was an ancient model for how disciples studied with rabbinic teachers.
Madalyn recently graduated from Calvin College with an English major and she’s aiming for a career in journalism. I’m giving her hands-on experience in the world of publishing, and she has been an enormous help with all the little tasks that take a lot of time.
For the past few months we have been working together on editing and transferring hundreds of my earlier articles to the new En-Gedi Resource Center website. Next, she will be helping me share articles by email. Because of her, I’m able to be much more productive as a writer and to interact more with my readers. Praise the Lord!
