Just an update — I’ll be speaking about the rich Jewish prayer traditions that Jesus observed at Grace Church in Granger, Indiana this Saturday (March 16). For more info about the event, see this page.
I’m speaking about the chapter in Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus called “For Everything a Blessing.”
If you can’t join me there, feel free to watch a video where Ann Spangler and I talk about Jewish prayer, including blessings. (It was taped during a meeting at Zondervan, the book’s publisher, so we’re talking to the staff there.)
The image of the ice covered buds reminds me of the traditional prayer that a person prays when they see the first budding tree in spring time. “Blessed are you, O Lord, King of the universe, who did not omit anything from the world, and created within it good creations and good trees for people to enjoy!”
Right now where I live in Michigan we’re eager to be done with snow and to see springtime buds. I can’t wait to pray that prayer!
