I gave a talk today online for the CMJ-UK 2022 Conference going on in Staffordshire, England. Here’s the description:
Hebraic Ways to Live a Blessed, Prayer-Filled Life
Understanding the Bible in context is critical. Hearing Jesus teach within his Jewish setting unlocks keys to his meaning. How can this knowledge actually change us from within? What can it do to deepen our walk with Christ and faith in God? We will look at an ancient, rich Jewish prayer tradition and consider a practice that will change the way you think, pray and live.
If you would like to watch, below is the link on Youtube.
This is a favorite chapter of mine and a fun talk to give. I hope you find it useful and worthwhile.
This talk comes from my book Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus, out of a chapter called “For Everything a Blessing.” There is a list of blessings for various occasions that is included in the book’s appendices which you can download here:
If you liked the talk, you’ll enjoy the rest of Sitting at the Feet which you can buy at this link.
During the Q & A, someone commented on the fact that there is actually a blessing that you pray after using the bathroom! Several years ago I wrote about this blessing and shared a piece written by a Jewish physician that was quite profound. Read it at this link.

Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe who bring us understanding and knowledge through Lois Tverberg for the sake of your own glory so we may now correctly grasp how profound is when we read:
1 Thessalonians 5:17-18
King James Version
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

I am always blessed to read your articles! By God’s grace I have your book that I borrowed from my a friend of mine who also got from someone in the US(I don’t think anybody in Nepal has this book) “Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus.” I have been reading the book, and was teaching from it to men and women that I have the privilege of discipling. But after watching you on youtube, it has become live and making more sense, and I think I will redo the teaching again. Thank you Lois for your hard work to help us understand the Jewishness of our Lord and Rabbi Jesus.
